The left portion of this building still exists as Kay
Cameron Jewelers. The sign on the window reads Henry E. Asmus, Real
Estate, Fire & Life Insurance. The sign across the alley on the far left
says Aldrich's Coal & Wood Office. The wooden building at
extreme right was the home of Charles
Dickerson's mother (Charles Dickerson was a local historian who wrote A
History of the Sayville Community). The platform in the lower center
of the photograph was for easy access in and out of horse-drawn carriages.
Undated photograph from the collection of Sayville Library.
