This building was the first business in Sayville named the Shoreham.  (At various times, there were also two hotels and a beachclub named Shoreham.)  This Shoreham was a restaurant on the bay on the west side of Candee Avenue.  Part of the structure was built in 1790 and was the home of Willett Greene.  It was moved to its shoreline location in 1902.  During the winter of 1921-22, the right side (with the dormer windows) was enlarged and the building reopened in 1922 as the clubhouse of the Sayville Golf Club.  In 1941 it became a summer theater known as the Sayville Playhouse.  It later became a movie theater showing art films.  The building was destroyed by fire in 1958.
