When Wilson J. Terry was Postmaster of Sayville (1853-1861 and
1866-1869) his house on the corner of Gillette Avenue and Main Street (where
Thornhill's Drug Store is today) served as Sayville's Post Office. Mail
was left on and picked up from a table in the front hall of the house.
The house was later moved down Foster Avenue to the southeast corner of Foster
Avenue and Pine Street.
Undated photograph from the collection of Sayville Library.
