The Edwards Homestead was built by Matthew Edwards c.1785, and
remained in the Edwards family until 1948 when its last Edwards owner, Clarissa,
left the house to the Sayville Historical Society. It was not the first
house built in Sayville but it is the oldest existing today. The house is
now part of a museum complex run by the Society and is located on the northeast
corner of Collins Avenue and Edwards Street.
