This is a second part to How to Research Your Home’s History as it will introduce you to resources and give examples of places to look you might not have considered. We will look at the use of old maps, fire maps, newspapers, records and sources that are found in a number of places that can help not only fill in the blanks but also enhance your home’s story. Whether your home was built yesterday or is hundreds of years old there is a story of family and community connected with the land. Among those examples will be the official search for the boundaries of Fire Island Light Station, fire map surprises, the story of a Town park, digging into a home’s genealogy and a look at some of the puzzles made clear in the strangest places. Your puzzle and questions will be welcome.
