Important Dates for 2022 General Election

Friday, October 14: Deadline to register.

Registration can be done in person, online or by mail (mail must be postmarked by October 14).

Wednesday, October 19: Deadline to update your address.

Update your address with the DMV in person, by mail, or online: https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application

If you do not have a New York driver’s license you can use the paper form to update your registration.

Monday, October 24: Deadline to request an Absentee Ballot Application* by letter, fax, or online.

Absentee Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and must reach the board of elections no more than 7 days after the election. You may drop off your Absentee Ballot in person on Election Day.

Saturday, October 29 – Sunday, November 6: Early voting

Monday, November 7: Deadline to request an Absentee Ballot* in person.

Tuesday, November 8: General Election and deadline to return an absentee ballot

Absentee Ballots must be postmarked, returned to the County Board of Elections by 9pm, or returned to any poll site in your county by 9pm.

*Due to a new law in New York State, if you request an Absentee Ballot and wish to vote in person instead, you will be asked to vote a provisional that will only be counted if your Absentee Ballot never gets sent in. https://www.vote411.org/new-york#absentee-ballot-process

New York Proposal 1, the Environmental Bond Measure. If passed, the Proposal would issue the $4.20 billion in general bond obligations to projects that are classified as climate change mitigation, flood risk reduction, water infrastructure, and land conservation and recreation.
